Is there a web service provider that gives you your own domain?

We%26#039;re seeing all these people providing free web hosting right now, like for example FREEWEBS or BLOGGER (Blogspot). With these free services you can set up your own website and manage it. But when you sign up for these free services, there%26#039;s an itsy bitsy problem - you%26#039;re URL isn%26#039;t completely unique.

For example, in Freewebs, you will get your website%26#039;s URL as www.freewebs.com/yournamehere (example only). And in Blogger, it%26#039;s www.yournamehere.blogspot.com.

Is there any totally free web hosting service that allows your url to be just www.yournamehere.com??

Is there a web service provider that gives you your own domain?

Buying a domain name costs you somewhere between $2 to $6 per year and that is not too high a cost.

If you buy a domain name, you can use the blogger blog with that domain name..

If you have problem wiyh your domain address please ask the provider in use.

Other Replys:If you like to create websites (usually you will end up more than 1 website, I got more than 100 websites in about 6 months%26#039; time), go for multiple web hosting services where you could host all your websites in one account.

I would like to suggest following webhosting which I use, they are excellent.

Hostmonster http://www.hostmonster.com/track/ryukend...

They offer hosting of %26quot;unlimited domains%26quot; and you will get massive webspace of 300000 MB (300 GB ). They only charge $5.95/month and they offer %26quot;a free Domain Name%26quot; and installing service called %26quot;Fantastico%26quot;. By using Fantastico, you could create own forum, photo gallery, shopping cart (e-commerce),your own auction site and your own blogs within few seconds. They also offer %26quot;Free Website Builder%26quot; as well.

Visit the site to check details.

Other Replys:I%26#039;m not sure if there are website hosts that give you free domain names, but there are website that give you free domains to attach to your website. Some popular ones are:

The catch is you have to keep posting on their forums to enjoy the free domain name, which really does not take that much effort

My service provider has give me hosting space and a domain, i have a web page, how do i link them up

Usually, when you%26#039;re given a domain name and webspace, you will have to configure your webspace to respond to those accessing the domain name. Some webspace provider have its own control panel (cPanel, Plesk, Virtuozzo, etc) that will allow you to defined the domain name to direct traffic to your webspace.

In some cases, when you were given the webspace and the domain name, it%26#039;s already linked.

Check with your service provider customer support for documentation on how to configure your domain name to work with your webspace.

You can set your providers page to redirect to your site.

Use a meta tag:

%26lt;META HTTP-EQUIV=%26quot;Refresh%26quot; content=%26quot;10; url=http://www.yoursite.com%26quot;/%26gt;

This means after 10 seconds (can be longer or less) the page is re-directed to www.yoursite.com

Upload the web site to the domain, typically using FTP (free software is available on line). If you happened to have used FrontPage to design the web site, click on %26lt;File%26gt; %26lt;publish%26gt; and it will do all the work for you. You will need your user name and password form your ISP. Your ISP should have some toutorials or help function to guide you.

My teacher assigned us to make our own web site. In your opinion, what is the best place to get free web hosting? I really want a cool website, any suggestions are welcome. If you know how, please include short easy instructions on how to put music and backgrounds on the site. Anything will be greatly appreciated.

Have created web pages .it shows some red crosses instead of pictures and no links work?

I have created web pages after uploading exact ly all the files in two free web hosting (Geocities and free spaces ) it shows some red crosses instead of pictures and no links work and I can only access home page background . What should I do?

Have created web pages .it shows some red crosses instead of pictures and no links work?

the paths to the images isn%26#039;t correct.

The best way to link images (or other pages) in your site is by relative links as opposed to absolute links.

An absolute link is like %26quot;http://www.mysite.com/images/photo.jpg%26quot;

example: you have your index.html and your images in a folder called %26quot;images%26quot;

the directory where the index.html is your %26quot;root%26quot; directory. So the images directory would be /images.

In the index I want to link to a photo. %26lt;img src=%26quot;images/photo.jpg%26quot; ..... %26gt;

if I had another page %26quot;news.html%26quot; in the diretcory /news (for instance) and I wanted to put a link back to the index page the link would be %26lt;a href=%26quot;../index.html%26gt;index%26lt;/a%26gt;

../ means %26quot;up one level%26quot;

Now with that in mind if I had a photo on the page %26quot;news.html%26quot; that%26#039;s in the /images directory then the link would be %26quot;../images/photo.jpg%26quot;

... which means %26quot;up one level%26quot; then go to %26quot;images%26quot; directory for %26quot;photo.jpg%26quot;

It may be possible (maybe) that if you were using a HTML editor to build the page(s) the editor may have linked the images absolutely on your pc. Instead of %26quot;images/photo.jpg%26quot; it may have done %26quot;file://C:/Documents%20and%20Settings...... (and so-on)%26quot;

My site has basic html code done just with a text editor. You can go to it and look at the code to help you understand it better. Just right-click somewhere on the page and select %26quot;View source%26quot;: http://www.one-tweak-loop.com/

I would double check your html code.

You may have typed it wrong.

Create a Web Page?

I want to make my computer a server and upload a web page from it. I need a complete guide. If its not possible the best free web hosting sites.

Create a Web Page?

If you are a true novice and don%26#039;t want to spend much time learning how to make a site, I would suggest the current super-popular MySpace. You can quickly get your information up for all your friends to see.

If you are interested in something more, but still fairly simple try GeoCities or Yahoo.

If you are willing to learn HTML I would suggest ATSPACE.COM. You can create a website for FREE up to 50MBs in size. I have two websites through them and the uptime is great. NO ADS, NO BANNERS. You%26#039;ll need an ftp program to upload your stuff. There%26#039;s a good free one for personal use called %26quot;FTP Explorer%26quot;. Of course you%26#039;ll either need to learn HTML or use one of the WYSIWYG programs like FrontPage or DreamWeaver to actually design your site. e-mail me if you need some help...

If you want your own domain and have it hosted, I suggest ReadyHosting. You get 1GB of space unlimted e-mail accounts, FTP access and domain name registration all for $99 a year.

Hey! Does anyone know anything about web design?

I would like to have a website about fitness. I want it to have forums, video clips, pictures, etc. Should I go with a web hosting site such as web.com or godaddy.com?? Or is it better to hire someone? Thanks!

Hey! Does anyone know anything about web design?

Godaddy web hosting sucks, I had to move all my websites to another web hosting service provider http://aplis.net/ you can also give them a try. First month free.

You might also need to hire a web designer.

You can find many web designers at websites like http://getafreelnacer.com/ , you can just post your project at the website and let many web designers bid for your project.

You can hire whoever you like.

Do not pay any money afront however.

Hey! Does anyone know anything about web design?

I made up my own website without any training at all. If you go the homestead.com they will show you how to do it. It is nice and easy and reasonably priced also. Best thing is you can update it anytime you feel like it. My website is www.housetabouts.com if you want to see an example of what can be done without involving a professional.

Other Replys:either learn html [ hyper-tensive mark-up language ],c.s.s. [ cascading style sheets ] or hire someone who does know.

will also need:
